The APC writers share their worries about the current Packers roster." 18.01.2020 04:44 Forum: Treffs - Fahrten und Events

WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareShareWednesday Walkthroughs: Biggest questions for the Packers after free agencyTim Fuller-USA TODAY SportsIn February Lane Taylor Jersey , we asked our writers what their biggest concerns about the Packers were as the team headed into perhaps the most crucial offseason in recent memory. The responses were quite varied, from coaching to personnel to whether or not the delicious and nutritious horse collar kielbasa will ever return to Lambeau Field. While we’re still not sure about the state of the oversized sausage, Brian Gutekunst’s spending spree last week has alleviated some of our questions from six weeks ago. But the free agency acquisitions have also crystallized some issues with other parts of the roster. Here’s what we think are the biggest questions and concerns facing the Packers now that free agency has died down.Evan “Tex” Western: SafetyAs someone who still firmly believes that Josh Jones should be a full-time Will linebacker, finding a capable safety to pair with Adrian Amos is my biggest concern now that the Packers have completed their main free agent shopping binge. I like Amos. I think he’ll be a great fit for the Packers and Mike Pettine. But I don’t believe that the Packers have the right player to pair with him on the back end of their defense.Green Bay has starters at both outside linebackers with the new “Acme Sackers” (credit to Peter Bukowski for helping come up with that nickname for Za’Darius and Preston Smith). With Kyler Fackrell and Reggie Gilbert now in backup roles, that’s a solid group. And although I think the Packers are still likely to take an edge rusher with one of their two first-round draft picks, I no longer see that as the greatest need. No, for me it’s safety. With Bashaud Breeland headed out, Tramon Williams seems poised to move back to cornerback, likely in a slot and nickel role. As I mentioned above, I think Jones’ best fit is at linebacker, or at the very least lined up exclusively in the box. What the Packers really need for Pettine is another versatile safety with the ability to play deep, in the box, and in the slot.Thankfully, this draft has a few of those players who should be available on day two. Johnathan Abram, Nasir Adderley, Juan Thornhill, Amani Hooker...those are some of the names I’ll be watching on Friday evening of the draft.Paul Noonan: CornerIf I may pile on Tex’s point, Tramon Williams seems poised to move back to cornerback. I think many people assumed that the Packers would make a stronger play for Bashaud Breeland, who acquitted himself well at the end of last season and sat out on the market for quite a while. Now that he’s gone elsewhere, the Packers once again find themselves in the unenviable position of being weak at corner. While Jaire Alexander appears to be excellent and Kevin King is good when healthy, hoping King is healthy is barely a plan. Tony Brown might turn into something, but this now becomes an area of need and may require using high draft capital for the umpteenth year in a row. Had they simply kept Breeland they would have drastically increased their draft options. Corner is either the first or second most important position on the defense. Not shoring up at least an average unit pre-draft is a mistake. Shawn Wagner: SafetyThe Packers did well to correct a number areas of concern on the roster and now find themselves more in the boat of adding depth than additional starters. However, one position that Green Bay still could use a plug-and-play type of player is at safety. As Tex mentioned, I also believe Josh Jones should be a more permanent linebacker than safety. The Packers brought in Adrian Amos in free agency Blake Martinez Jersey , a player that can give them versatility at both safety positions. He will allow the players around him to make more plays in the secondary, but the team could use another one of those playmakers. Jones, Tramon Williams, and possibly the unsigned Ibraheim Campbell currently make up Green Bay’s options at the other safety slot and that won’t strike fear into any opposing offense. Drafting a safety on day two would give the Packers another player to groom for the future while providing immediate depth in 2019.While Green Bay could have benefited from signing a savvy veteran at wide receiver, safety is still the more pressing need on the roster at this juncture.Jon Meerdink: Tramon WilliamsOthers in this post have alluded to this, but my biggest concern about the Packers currently is Tramon Williams. Specifically, I’m concerned about the degree to which the Packers are counting on him to contribute next season.Williams is the team’s current starting free safety and may be their third best corner. As presently constructed, the Packers roster will likely require him to contribute at both of those positions. That would be a tall order for any player, much less one who turned 36 this week. Unless the Packers add bodies at either corner or safety or both, Williams could end up playing close to the 1,059 snaps he played last season. That’s the most he’s played in any season since 2012. Figuring out how to avoid having to do that again should be one of their biggest priorities.Peter Bukowski: Right side of the OL Bryan Bulaga provides an impossibly underrated security blanket for the Packers, particularly relative to the way so many fans seem willing to personally drive him to Austin Straubel. Billy Turner offers a solid option to slot in at right guard, but then what? Jason Spriggs hasn’t shown he’s capable of filling a void left by a Bulaga injury we all know is coming. And the backup plan for Turner leaves more than a little to be desired. Chris Lindstrom, a right tackle at Boston College who can play guard, could be a possible solution in the draft, but relying on a rookie in 2019 should give the team pause. There are still capable players on the market who can play guard, guys like Quinton Spain who don’t seem to have a huge market. If he could be had for a small money deal, the Packers have guard competition and a player in Turner who can be a swing tackle if necessary. Drafting a player like Lindstrom offers added insurance and a long-term option, but I just laid out a Wisconsin winter snow storm size of “what ifs.” There’s still plenty of work to do in order to assure Aaron Rodgers get the protection he needs. Mike Vieth: ReceiverThe initial thoughts on the free agency spending were very encouraging. Now, looking at the phase of the offseason, I’d say my biggest question is the Packers receivers. I’m making this a wide range to include tight ends as well as the wide receivers. I think both could be addressed early in the draft as it would be wise to get talent that is NFL ready and not something that will take too much time to develop. The tight end would be the biggest need. While I am a big fan of Jimmy Graham, he hasn’t lived up to his contract as of yet. I don’t think there is any need to get rid of Graham before the season as going into the season with just Big Bob Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis will create an even bigger void. However, making it a priority to target Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson or Irv Smith Jr. in the first two rounds will help in resolving the issue. Wide Receiver is also something for the Packers to explore. Mostly because Davante Adams is the only sure thing on the roster. Geronimo Allison was having a good start to 2018 but he’s coming off an injury. Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jake Ryan Jersey , Equanimeous St. Brown and Jake Kumerow are developing but are no guarantee to be playmakers. The nice thing is they are headed in the right direction and need to build off a solid 2018.Targeting a wide receiver with could really take things to the next level and smooth things over if Allison doesn’t bounce back and the others have sophomore slumps with the Packers. The best thing is there are plenty of options to target. Players like Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, N’Keal Harry and Marquise Brown are just a few who could make an impact right away.

A brief look at 49ers/Vikings history As we’ve done for 18.01.2020 04:32 Forum: Treffs - Fahrten und Events

most of the games the Minnesota Vikings have played over the past couple of seasons Olisaemeka Udoh Jersey nfl draft , we will prepare for this week’s game by taking a look back at the history between the purple and their upcoming opponent. This week, the opponent to start the 2018 season is the San Francisco 49ers, a team that the Vikings have been pretty evenly matched with in the regular season over the years. As always, we will just be looking at regular season contests in these posts, as well as take a look at a couple of games from the more recent past. With that, let’s have at it!As always, the numbers used in this story, and all the ones like it throughout the season, come to you courtesy of Pro Football Reference.Total regular season games between the 49ers and the Vikings: 41All-time record: 21-19-1Total Vikings points scored, head-to-head: 905 (22.1 points/game)Total 49ers points scored, head-to-head: 925 (22.6 points/game)Longest Vikings’ winning streak vs 49ers: 5 games, 15 September 1963 - 24 October 1965Longest 49ers’ winning streak vs Vikings: 4 games Minnesota Vikings Jerseys 2019 , 15 October 1961 - 2 December 1962Most recent Vikings’ home win in series: 23 September 2012 (final score 24-13)Most recent 49ers’ road win in series: 13 December 1992 (final score 20-17)Biggest Vikings’ home win in series: 31 points, 29 September 1963 (final score 45-14)Biggest 49ers’ road win in series: 31 points, 8 September 1983 (final score 48-17)Current streak: 49ers, 1 winThe Vikings have actually had pretty good luck at home against the 49ers in recent history, as they’ve won the last five contests against San Francisco in Minneapolis. In fact, it’s been over a quarter of a century since the last time the 49ers won in Minnesota. The last Niners victory over the Vikings in Minnesota happened at the Metrodome back in 1992, as future Vikings running back Amp Lee scored two touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground. The Vikings got an return of a Steve Young interception for a touchdown by Audray McMillan and a touchdown from Terry Allen, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Niners from heading back home with a 20-17 win.The most recent game in Minnesota between these two teams was. . .interesting. However, it was largely made that way by the officiating crew. If you’ll recall, that was the game where Jim Harbaugh, for whatever reason Olisaemeka Udoh Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , was awarded about a dozen timeouts in the second half. (Actually, it was only two extra, but still. . .it wasn’t a good look for the officiating that afternoon.) The 49ers were considered one of the favorites in the NFC that season, and in fact did end up representing the NFC in the Super Bowl that year. However, in this game, the Vikings got the job done, courtesy of two Christian Ponder to Kyle Rudolph touchdown passes and a 23-yard touchdown run by Ponder to push the Vikings to a 24-13 victory. The most recent game between these two teams overall was also a season-opening contest, as the Vikings headed out west to San Francisco to start the 2015 NFL regular season as the late game on Monday Night Football. The Vikings were pretty terrible on both sides of the ball that night, quite frankly. Defensively, they had no answer for Carlos Hyde, who rushed for 168 yards and two scores. On offense, the team managed just one scoring drive on the evening Youth Alexander Mattison Jersey , and that didn’t come until early in the fourth quarter. All in all, it wound up being a fairly miserable opening night for Vikings fans, as they stayed up all night to watch their team lose 20-3.Oh. . .and since I know you’re thinking about it. . .if you want an indicator of just how much time flies, this happened in Minneapolis nine years ago. That’s a brief look back at the history between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers, folks. Hopefully the Vikings can ensure that the 49ers losing streak in the Twin Cities for a little longer. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed kicker Dan Bailey, owner of the second-best field goal percentage in NFL history and replacement for rookie Daniel Carlson.Bailey’s deal was done on Tuesday, after the Vikings waived Carlson fresh from his 0-for-3 game at Green Bay.The fifth-round draft pick from Auburn missed field goals of 48, 49 and 35 yards, with the last two failed tries coming in overtime and forcing the Vikings to settle for a 29-29 tie with the rival Packers.“It’s hard to figure out. You think you’ve got a guy for a while, and then he goes out and misses three in a big game,” coach Mike Zimmer said on Monday in discussing what he said was an “easy” decision to cut Carlson. “But things happen, I guess.”The Vikings drafted Blair Walsh in the sixth round in 2012 and watched him become an All-Pro as a rookie Super Bowl Alexander Mattison Jersey , so general manager Rick Spielman sent two sixth-round picks to the New York Jets just to move up in the fifth round for Carlson in search of similar returns.Four days after Carlson was formally awarded the job upon the release of incumbent and seventh-year veteran Kai Forbath, he missed two 42-yard field-goal tries in a preseason game. Zimmer was peeved enough that night to order a 2-point conversion try after a touchdown to send a message to Carlson about his lack of room for error on a team with sights set on the Super Bowl.Carlson made a 48-yard attempt plus three extra points in the opener on Sept. 9 against San Francisco and he sent nine of 10 kickoffs over two games into the end zone for touchbacks, but leg strength can’t cover up inconsistency from shorter distances. Carlson acknowledged afterward a decreased self-confidence when he lined up for the 35-yarder on the last play of the game, a red flag for his ability to smooth out a rough start.Bailey has made 186 of 211 field-goal attempts, an accuracy greater than 88 percent that trails only Baltimore’s Justin Tucker. The 30-year-old Bailey slumped last season after a groin injury that kept him out for four games, missing five of 13 field goals upon his return and producing the first two failed extra points of his NFL career to foreshadow his release by Dallas on Sept. 1. He has the track record, though, to give the Vikings faith they’ll get three points when they drive close enough to earn it.To make room for Bailey, the Vikings waived second-year wide receiver Stacy Coley. He became expendable when wide receiver Aldrick Robinson was signed on Monday. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen have formed one of the league’s most potent wide receiver duos, but they could use more depth behind them.

with the third overall pick in the draft Quinnen Williams New York Jets Jersey , they spoke to other teams about trading down in a move that would give them more picks later in the draft. One of those extra picks would likely come in Friday night’s second round. The Jets traded theirs to the Colts in order to move into position to draft quarterback Sam Darnold last year and they are reportedly still looking for a way to get one in their pocket.NFL Media reports that the Jets are looking for ways to move from their current spot in the third round — No. 68 — into the second round. Doing so would likely come at the cost of draft picks in future seasons, but Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan showed last year that he’s willing to do that for the right player.Edge rusher and offensive line are a couple of spots that the Jets could look to address on the second night of the draft and it appears we’ll wait to find out when they will be on the clock to address them. While he was on the roster as a true freshman, he didn’t catch a pass his first 5 games so the coaches asked him if he could switch over to cornerback because of the lack of depth Michigan State had at the position. He agreed and started 5 of the teams last 7 games at cornerback. He cemented his position move against Northwestern with a pick that changed his future forever. This wasn’t a great play. It was more of an ill-advised throw into the flat. Layne is in zone coverage with the short to intermediate right side of the field as his area. He just basically lets the outside receiver go past him (he has deep zone help) and reads the QB on the throw to the flat. Once the ball is in the air it is an easy pick six as the slot receiver has all his momentum going towards the sideline and can’t get back to disrupt the play. This play solidified the move to cornerback and propelled Layne into a career path that has him poised to be drafted into the NFL as a fairly high pick.Since Layne has only been a cornerback for about 2 1鈦? years it is amazing the rapid ascent he has achieved and how he is now viewed as an exceptional prospect. He is what teams look for in a boundary corner with fantastic height, great length and WR speed. This next play is an out and up corner route to the back of the end zone that is hard to defend without holding.First he is on an island, and the QB is looking his way as soon as he gets the snap. Layne has an ILB to his left Red Quinnen Williams Jersey , but he still has to guard against the quick slant. He is up in the receiver’s grill to force him to the outside. The WR pushes him off and runs laterally then back up the field to the corner of the end zone. This is a 6’ 4” 225 lbs receiver that Layne had to stayed glued to, or it’s an easy score. This where his height, superior agility and 33” arms come into play. He is able stay with the receiver and knock down the pass. Most veteran NFL corners would have a tough time by themselves against this receiver on this play. Layne is definitely an ascending talent who should get even better with NFL coaching. But how does he do as a tackler? He never played defense at all before 2016 and is now asked to make open field tackles on some very elusive and sometimes powerful players. On this play he shows how he is as a tackler. He likes to get low and take out the bottom half of the runner. This is a compilation against three pretty big dudes. The first is against Penn State and 6’0” 234 lbs Saquon Barkley as he takes him down with a minimal gain. The second is against Notre Dame as the receiver runs him off the line in man coverage then tries to pick off the ILB leaving Layne all alone against Josh Adams (6’2” 225 lbs) who he keeps to a 3 yard gain and a sore thigh. In the last clip Layne is in zone coverage and keeps Simmie Cobbs 6’ 4” 220 lbs from attaining a first down. All of these are one on one tackles and done expertly well.He doesn’t always have to tackle low on a player. It depends on the situation. In the open field the runner has a multitude of ways to avoid a tackler so the defender just has to square up and make a difficult tackle. These two plays against Indiana are a good example. In the first play the Spartans are using a corner blitz that does nothing but let the little outside receiver get a free release on his drag route across the middle. Layne is in zone coverage so he steps up into the path of the receiver, breaks down into a good wide base, and makes a form tackle on a speedy, elusive receiver. On the second play Layne is again in zone coverage as the ball is dumped to the back out of the backfield. Layne is able to close ground quickly and (with help) force the RB out of bounds before the first down sticks.Tackling is nice, but a cornerback is judged by how well he does in coverage especially around the goal line. Here is a play against Ohio State against a 6’ 4” 205 lbs receiver who Layne has in coverage one on one.Remember that Layne came to the Spartans as a receiver and has decent hands. He is able on this play to keep the receiver at arm’s length, and when the ball is underthrown Layne is able to make a play on the ball despite the efforts of the receiver. Again coverage is key so lets look at Layne against some other types of routes. We have seen Layne in zone coverage quite a bit 2019 Quinnen Williams Jersey , but where he really excels is in press man coverage where he can use his size, quickness and length to his advantage. If there is one play clip you should watch to define the ability of Justin Layne it is the first play in this last GIF. Layne is in press man coverage against a speedy wideout on the boundary. On this play the receiver makes a great sprint like he is going down the sideline on a ‘9’ route but then crosses the face of Layne on a quick slant. Layne uses his great short area quickness to get back into the play. Watch his hips on the play. He opens up to the outside to run with the receiver. Then he has to snap his hips around the exact opposite way to get back into the play. He not only catches back up to the receiver, but his great length allows him to make a play on the ball without interfering. This play simulates exactly what all those drills at the Combine are trying to show. This was as good as you can humanly do it and reminded me of Marshon Lattimore from 2017 who was one of the best I ever saw and is almost 2” shorter than Layne. Now Lattimore was a little quicker than Layne, but considering that Layne is taller makes this very impressive. The last play is of Layne in man coverage, and the receiver tries a double move which is poorly done. You see that Layne is really in better position to catch the ball than the receiver but does a poor job of securing the ball. This was a bad route and a bad read by the QB, but the ball was essentially dropped by the corner. So we know that Layne has room for improvement. Layne is an ascending talent who I have a grade of a mid to high second round pick. He will at times look a bit lethargic, especially in run support, and he should have more interceptions than his 3 he attained at Michigan State. His talent is undeniable Men Quinnen Williams Jersey , and if he continues to work at his craft I could see a few Pro Bowls in this kid’s future. There isn’t much buzz about this kid right now, but rest assured that NFL people know who he is. This is a Seattle Seahawks Draft pick if I ever saw one. The Seahawks have only 4 picks in 2019, and I can see them trading down in the first round and picking Layne up in the 2nd round. He is exactly what they look for in a corner, fast and tall with great length. If Seattle can’t trade down then this is #21 pick in the 2019 NFL draft. If you like long press corners then this is your man. He has talent with upside with the right position coach. What do you think?

N'Keal Harry New England Patriots Jersey , Odell Beckham Jr. owns several diamond-encrusted Super Bowl rings to match fashionably with those dazzling watches he wears.Once a Giant. Currently a Brown. OBJ longed to be a Patriot.Talk about fantasy football."That was always a dream of mine to play for Tom Brady and (Bill) Belichick," Cleveland's star wide receiver said this week as the Browns (2-4) prepared to see how they measure up against the unbeaten and unrivaled Patriots (7-0), the NFL's golden standard of excellence for nearly two decades. When Beckham played in New York, there was speculation a few years back that he was going to be traded to the Patriots. It didn't happen, but Beckham would have welcomed the chance to join forces with Brady and Co."I was willing and ready to go over there at any point in time," Beckham said.Instead, the Giants dealt him to Cleveland in March, providing quarterback Baker Mayfield with another potent playmaker and ratcheting up expectations for the Browns. It wasn't long after the deal was completed that Beckham said he wanted to transform the Browns into the "new Patriots" by helping them win NFL championships, something Cleveland hasn't done since 1964.In Beckham's eyes, there's no way like the Patriots' way. Six Super Bowl titles since 2002 are proof."When I said I want to turn this into the Patriots' organization, it's about winning, but it's about the way they go about it," Beckham said. "How everything is precise and everything is just perfect. It feels good to win, it feels good to succeed and that's what I meant by wanting to be like them. I don't know how to be like them because I've never been over there, I've never experienced any of it."Beckham's admiration begins with Brady, the Pats' ageless wonder still playing as well as any quarterback at 42. In his 20th season, Brady remains as good — or better — than anyone. As a way of showing respect for a player he's admired since he was a kid, Beckham intends to present Brady with a pair of goat-hair cleats on Sunday. Goat-hair cleats for the GOAT — the greatest of all time."I know we've done some goat cloning, and I think there's something going on," Beckham said, joking about Brady's impressive longevity. "He's not human that he's playing the way he's still playing. ... He's very smart. He's the best to ever do it. I don't think anybody can really argue it. He's just the greatest, and I definitely want some of the water that he's drinking."While Beckham clearly admires Brady Cheap N'Keal Harry Jersey , and would have enjoyed playing with him, he's committed to helping Mayfield develop and making the Browns better."Tom and I talked for two or three years like, 'If it happens, it happens and it would be cool,'" he said. "But now I'm with somebody who I think is going to be a guy who plays for however long he's going to play for. Right now it's about us establishing a connection and being a better team, just coming together."We're a 2-4 team, but I don't think anybody in here feels like it. It's just time to have a sense of urgency."It begins Sunday with a matchup against a team that rarely loses and is nearly unbeatable at home.Beckham reveres the Patriots. He doesn't fear them."The goal is to win every game, I don't care who we're playing," he said. "We're not going to the Patriots to play a good game and pat ourselves on the back and come back to Cleveland and keep working. We're going down there to win. We're preparing to win, there's no way around it."NOTES: Browns star DE Myles Garrett was added to Thursday's injury report. He was limited in practice by a knee issue. ... Browns coach Freddie Kitchens said he's settled on his starting offensive line for this week. Kitchens and his staff have contemplated changes since the bye week, with left tackle Greg Robinson likely to be replaced by Justin McCray. ... Linebacker Joe Schobert wore a Wisconsin jersey to the podium for his weekly interview. The former Badger is picking his alma mater to upset No. 3 Ohio State on Saturday. But he's got no plans to bet Browns teammate Denzel Ward, who played for the Buckeyes. "I don't spend money like that," Schobert cracked. "I'll talk a lot of game, but I don't put money on it." This happens every year. So why does everyone always freak out?"What’s that famous quote? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different result?Well I must be insane, because every year I expect Patriots fans not to freak out when Free Agency hits, and every year I’m surprised when they do.Listening to the media freak out makes all the sense in the world to me, and I at least understand why they take the position they do. Disputation and hot takes drives traffic, and calling out New England for letting Trey Flowers walk and failing to sign Cordarrelle Patterson will get the clicks necessary to keep them employed. “The Patriots will be fine, they do this every year” will never get half the attention that “The dynasty is over” will, and so that’s the route a lot of the analysts choose to go in order to increase exposure and generate the debate that very much falls in the purview of their job description. I don’t like it, but I completely get it - and based on the amount of reactions they get, they’re all doing something very Red N'Keal Harry Jersey , very right. What I can’t figure out for the life of me, though, is how there are Patriots fans anywhere who don’t like the way Bill Belichick handles the offseason.Unless 2018 was your very first year as a Patriots fan (in which case, welcome to the dark side), you have absolutely no excuse for being upset over the lack of big moves the Patriots have made during these first few days of Free Agency. This happens every single year, almost without fail, and while it’s never fun to lose players you enjoy rooting for to division rivals or watching cities fan the flames of Super Bowl dreams with the signing of the offseason’s prize talent, the endgame trumps any joy folks in Oakland or Cleveland are feeling right now by so far that there isn’t even a word to describe it.With very, very few exceptions, Belichick’s formula hasn’t changed since 2003, when he cut all-star, irreplaceable, heart-and-soul of the team, defensive captain Lawyer Milloy just before the start of the season en route to a 14-2 record and a second Lombardi trophy. You can go back over a decade and a half and list all of the players the Patriots have either let walk, didn’t sign when they were available, or didn’t work hard enough to get, and that list will be replete with absolute studs. The list of players the Patriots did bring in in that same time frame were solid, intelligent veterans who were able to maximize their skillsets under Belichick and help the Patriots win more division titles than I care to rattle off right now - not to mention FIVE Super Bowls since that first one, which they won with a group of relative no-names. The guys that are available once the initial frenzy dies down are the exact kind of guys the Patriots covet, and if there is a guy they really want out there somewhere, they get him, either by giving him a contract or trading for him using their usual slew of draft picks. I’m not telling anyone anything they don’t already know or haven’t already seen themselves ten times over by now. Belichick’s method works 2019 N'Keal Harry Jersey , and it works better than any other method out there by a country mile. Sure, there are plenty of misses in there, but that’s true all across the league. Luckily, when the Patriots land a dud, rarely does that dud come with millions upon millions of dead cap money. And yet, in spite of all that, there are still fans out there furious over the lack of movement from the team so far. It never fails to blow my mind. But perhaps what most blows my mind is that, every year, the same teams throw the same money at the same kinds of players, and rarely do they ever produce the desired result. Either Belichick is so much better at evaluating talent and understanding who fits best in his system than the rest of the league that nobody even bothers to try and emulate it, or the pressure to make a big splash and appease the front office is high enough with other franchises that coaches sign player to save their own jobs just as much as to help a team win. Whatever it is, that’s not our problem. The Patriots are going to be fine - they always are, and there are 18 seasons of evidence to back that up.So let’s all relax, OK? I just did some math, and the first game of the 2019 season is 175 days away. This roster will look very different in September than it does now. And whoever is on that roster will be great, and will help this team win the AFC East again, and likely get a first round bye, and hopefully host an AFC Championship, and maybe get a shot to defend that Super Bowl the team won last year in that season where they lost their starting left tackle and their best running back and their most clutch playoff receiver and that deep threat they gave up a first round pick for and their quarterback hated the coach and the whole team was in disarray. We all know how this story goes. So get outside! Enjoy the upcoming Spring! And keep Google open, because that’s the best way to learn about the player the Patriots are about to sign that you’ve never heard of who will end up making a key play in a deep playoff run next year.

Murray-USA TODAY SportsOn Monday I gave you a list of four things New York Giants fans should feel good about as we enter the summer months. I promised you I would give you the flip side, so here are four things to worry about when we consider the 2019 Giants. Will they have enough pass rush?Markus GoldenNoah K. Murray-USA TODAY SportsIf you want to be be really optimistic about the 2019 defense, you certainly can. As I have said previously, there is a lot of youth, a lot of athleticism, a lot of potential. There are a plethora of young defensive backs to be excited about. What is missing, though, are pass rushers with resumes. It is fine to believe that Markus Golden can return to his 12.5 sack 2016 form. He might. Counting on that, however, is a gamble. He is now two seasons and an awful knee injury removed from that — and he doesn’t have Chandler Jones and Calais Campbell to help him. He has to prove he can again be a dominant edge player. It is fine to believe that Lorenzo Carter will take a step forward as an impact edge rusher in his second season, and that Oshane Ximines was terrific value at the end of the third round. They still have to prove it, though. It’s fine to believe that B.J. Hill might improve on his 5.5 sacks as a rookie. He got three of those in one game, though, and came out of N.C. State as a run-defending nose tackle not thought to have pass rush ability. I’m not counting on big pass rush impact from Hill. It’s fine to believe 17th overall pick Dexter Lawrence can push an NFL pocket. He has to prove he can Cheap Dexter Lawrence Jersey , though. It’s fine if you buy the growing narrative that pass coverage might be more important than pass rush. I’m not yet convinced, but I do know both work together. Better coverage gives rushers more time to get into the backfield. Better pressure means defensive backs aren’t hung out to dry and asked to cover forever. At some point, though, a pass rusher has to win a one-on-one matchup and be able to make a play.“Lorenzo Carter has to build his resume, Markus Golden has to continue building his resume. That is the only way that happen,” defensive coordinator James Bettcher said. “OV [Olivier Vernon] was not just day one, came into the league and was a dynamic pass rusher, he had to build that. The only way the guys get a chance to do that is on the field getting snaps.”The Giants are counting on coverage and resume building. We’ll see if it works out.The Manning-to-Jones transitionWay back at the NFL Scouting Combine, before GM Dave Gettleman was in “full-bloom love” with Daniel Jones and used the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to select him, I asked head coach Pat Shurmur if having Eli Manning at quarterback complicated any potential midseason transition to a then-hypothetical new player at that position. “I don’t think so,” Shurmur said at the time. “We’re not looking to make a midseason transition. We’re looking to play the best player and have that player in there.“We’re also trying to win games and if we bring in a new player [which we now know they did] develop that player to the point where he’ll start for us.”Manning’s presence will be good for Jones, who will learn valuable lessons from the two-time Super Bowl MVP whether Manning goes out of his way to be a mentor or not. News flash, though. Having Manning as the starter undoubtedly complicates any potential in-season transition to Jones. The comparisons to the Manning-Kurt Warner situation in 2004 are easy and obvious, but not necessarily accurate. Warner was in his first season with the Giants and the franchise had no ties to him. They owed him nothing. Manning will be giving the Giants his 16th season in 2019. He’s given them two Super Bowl titles. He is the best and most prolific quarterback in franchise history. John Mara and Gettleman have loyalty to him.No one in the Giants organization wants to embarrass Manning. They would like things to end well, not with the bitterness that came when the franchise moved on from Phil Simms after the 1993 season. Manning isn’t Warner. He isn’t Ryan Fitzpatrick, Joe Flacco or Tyrod Taylor. His accomplishments and longevity in a Giants uniform can’t help but complicate the transition. The Giants pulled the rug out from underneath Warner in 2004 when the Giants were 5-4 and still in playoff contention. I can’t imagine they would do that to Manning. I doubt they would hesitate if they start 0-6 like they did in 2013 or 1-7 like they did last season, but not if there is a chance at the playoffs. Like I said Red Dexter Lawrence Jersey , it’s complicated. The youth at cornerbackThe Giants’ youth and apparent talent at cornerback is exciting. It’s also scary. Right now it looks like they will have four cornerbacks on the season-opening 53-man roster — DeAndre Baker, Julian Love, Sam Beal, Corey Ballentine — who have never played an NFL snap. Cornerback is a position where mistakes often lead directly to giving up points. Inexperienced players make mistakes. They, hopefully, grow and learn from them. They do, though, mess up sometimes. The Giants have to hope their evaluations of these young players were correct, and that whatever growing pains they experience don’t end up costing them games.Offensive line depthMike RemmersNoah K. Murray-USA TODAY SportsThe offensive line has been upgraded with the additions of Kevin Zeitler at right guard and Mike Remmers at right tackle. As optimistic as everyone should be, there are still risks and potential issues along that line.Jon Halapio is back at center. Giants’ decision-makers have pretty much tripped all over themselves talking about how well Halapio was playing before being hurt last season. Maybe so. Still, he has played TWO NFL games at center after struggling for years to keep an NFL job. Do we really know how good he is?Remmers had back surgery. He called it a “little” procedure, but it was still back surgery. He’s an average right tackle, which would be an upgrade for the Giants, but he’s not an All-Pro.What about the depth? The backups right now look like Chad Wheeler, Spencer Pulley and Evan Brown. Is that good enough? Fowler is a steady, unspectacular veteran" New York Giants NewsGiants’ 90-man roster: WR Bennie Fowler competing for spot in crowded fieldNew,24commentsFowler is a steady 2019 Dexter Lawrence Jersey , unspectacular veteranEDTIn what is a crowded, competitive field at wide receiver for the New York Giants does veteran Bennie Fowler have a realistic chance at securing a spot on the 53-man roster? Let’s talk about Fowler as we continue profiling players on the 90-man roster the Giants will be bringing to training camp. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-1Weight: 212Age: 27Position: Wide receiverExperience: 5How he got hereAfter four seasons with the Denver Broncos during which he amassed 56 receptions, Fowler couldn’t find an NFL job at the beginning of the 2018 season. He was signed, then cut by both the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots.Fowler was signed by the Giants on Oct. 15, one day before they placed his former Denver teammate, Cody Latimer, on injured reserve with a severe hamstring pull.Fowler played in 10 games for the Giants, catching 16 passes in 27 targets for 199 yards (12.4 yards per catch) and one touchdown. He also proved to be a willing run blocker, something we know is important to coach Pat Shurmur. 2019 outlook Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate are the starters. Latimer and Corey Coleman are probably, at least right now, the third and fourth wide receivers. Russell Shepard is an experienced receiver and valuable special teams contributor. Darius Slayton is a draft pick. Reggie White Jr. and Alex Wesley are intriguing undrafted free agents. Veteran free agent Brittan Golden has six years of NFL experience. There isn’t a whole lot of room at the inn.Perhaps the best thing Fowler has going for him is that he seems like a solid, dependable pro — something Shurmur and Dave Gettleman seem to value. With the squeeze at his position, though, Fowler is going to have his hands full earning a spot on the 53-man roster.

class have been unavailable to the team Ed Oliver Jersey , due to identical injuries.Coach Sean McDermott explained to reporters on Tuesday that center Mitch Morse and receiver Cole Beasley have been absent from offseason drills due to surgery to repair sports hernias.“They went through the core muscle deal with the groin area, went to Philadelphia and saw Dr. Myers and had the procedure this offseason,” McDermott said. “They are working back, they are hard at work and our training staff has done a nice job with them. They’ve worked hard and we will get them back as soon as we can here.”The conditions didn’t stop the Bills from committing significant dollars to both players. Morse became the highest-paid center in football via a four-year, $44.5 million deal. Beasley signed a four-year Youth Vosean Joseph Jersey , $29 million contract. The Bills must have really wanted them, because the Bills are willing to wait for them during what it an important chunk of the overall planning for the season.“When you talk about availability, now when we’re not available, it’s not ideal,” McDermott said regarding injury issues the team has been dealing with generally. “Is it going to stop us? in the concussion protocol after getting hurt early in training camp Devin Singletary Jersey Draft , but he was cleared late last month and is set to be on the field against the Jets this weekend. The concussion was the fourth documented one of Morse’s NFL career and he said he spoke to “every freakin’ expert known to man” about the impact of those injuries before returning to the field. Those conversations left Morse feeling comfortable about getting back at it this season.“You always wonder, but every single [specialist] I talked to said the outside perception of these things is kind of far off,” Morse said, via the . “I feel very confident that I’m going to be fine in the future. We’ve done all the tests you can do, and everyone was tip-top and all the specialists said I’ll be just fine.”The Bills made Morse a big piece of their effort to rebuild an underwhelming offensive line Devin Singletary NFL Jersey , so they’ll be hoping that Morse is right that the past injuries don’t foretell future problems. Sunday night’s Bills-Steelers game will be a special night for the Edmunds family.Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds and Steelers running back Trey Edmunds will all be on the field, and that will make them the first trio of brothers to play in the same NFL game in 92 years.According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time three brothers all played in the same NFL game was in 1927, when Joe Rooney Devin Singletary NFL Draft , Cobb Rooney and Bill Rooney all played for the Duluth Eskimos.“It’s going to be a fabulous moment. It’s exciting,” their mom, Felicia Edmunds, told the Steelers’ website. “We are going to take it in stride and not lean one way or another but be neutral. One thing is this will be the first game ever when I get to clap for every single call, every play. It doesn’t matter if it’s defense or offense Devin Singletary Buffalo Bills Jersey , they are good for us. This will be the very first game I am able to clap no matter which way the ref calls it.”The Edmunds brothers were raised by Felicia and their father, two-time Pro Bowl tight end Ferrell Edmunds, in a family that was focused on football. Sunday will be a special day for that family.

would be at this point in the season. It was hoped that they would be somewhere around .500 as they travel to take on the Detroit Lions in Week 8 Deandre Baker NFL Draft , but that has not come to pass. After a series of games against two great defenses and three unconventional schemes, the Giants face a Lions team sporting an uncharacteristically poor defense and a relatively conventional offense — though Matt Stafford is playing some of the best football of his career. In an added twist, this game will resemble something of a Mortal Kombat “mirror match,” as many Giants’ fans wanted Matt Patricia to be the successor to Tom Coughlin and their team will feature several former Giants. Can the Giants’ get redemption after falling against the Arizona Cardinals? Let’s take a look at the matchup between New York’s offense and Detroit’s defense.Stats at a glance*ESPN has added the pass rush and pass block win rates for every team as a freely available stat, and I’m also adding turnovers to give a more complete picture of the respective offenses and defenses. Turnovers represent total fumbles and interceptions for the offense, and fumbles and interceptions recovered by the defense.Keys to the gameKeep Daniel Jones uprightThere are, of course, keys to winning this game from an X’s and O’s or personnel perspective. But after the Giants dropped a winnable game against a rebuilding team they were favored to beat, we have to backtrack and start from the basics. And the basic of the basics is that for an offense to succeed Deandre Baker Buffalo Bills Jersey , the quarterback has to be on his feet and able to deliver the ball. As Mark Schofield so eloquently and elegantly detailed, not all of the Giants’ pass protection woes are on the offensive line — play calling and the play of Daniel Jones have contributed plenty. The Giants have a chance to get on the right track against Detroit. The Lions have not had a good pass rush this season. Their 10 sacks are the fewest in the NFL and their pass rush win rate is the lowest in the NFL. And while the Giants’ pass protection has been a serious issue of late, they are still in the middle of the pack with respect to their pass block win rate. And although their Adjusted Sack Rate is 21st in the NFL per Football Outsiders, they should have the advantage in this matchup. That doesn’t mean they should take the Lions’ defense lightly. They have been coming on in recent weeks, playing hard against the Chiefs, Packers, and Vikings. Last week the Giants were expected to have a high-scoring affair against a young and porous Cardinals’ defense. They can’t afford to make assumptions against any team. Take advantage of opportunitiesThe Giants have had opportunities to win games. Part of what makes their loss to the Cardinals so frustrating is that they had multiple opportunities throughout the game to seize the lead and come away with the win. It has been a common theme throughout their season. The only time they truly took advantage of an opportunity was coming back to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they decided to try and run the clock out in the second half after Saquon Barkley was injured. Lions’ head coach Matt Patricia noted that his rush defense has been particularly poor this season — surprising considering the presence of Damon Harrison — and that is a bad thing with Saquon Barkley coming to town. Barkley did not appear to be healthy last week and further tweaked his ankle during the game, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t take advantage of a porous run defense. Wayne Gallman has proved to be a viable starting running back who can execute the Giants’ entire playbook. He isn’t as explosive as Barkley, nor can he create magic out of nothing Infant Daniel Jones Jersey , but he is capable as a receiver and pass protector. The Lions are have been vulnerable to the pass as well. Their pass defense is on par with the Giants’ having given up the same number of touchdowns and more yards per game, but allowing fewer big (20- and 40-yard) big plays. The opportunities should be there for chunk plays on offense, as long as the Giants can take advantage. Hang on to the ballThe Giants have a turnover problem. Their -10 turnover ratio is the second-worst in the NFL behind the Miami Dolphins, their 18 total turnovers are the most in the NFL. All told, they have lost their handle on the ball 24 times in seven games — not counting Eli Manning’s two interceptions, nor the six interceptable passes against the Buccaneers, Redskins, and Vikings which fell incomplete. That is, frankly Daniel Jones Jersey Draft , far too many for any team to compete at a consistent level. The good news for the Giants is that the Lions haven’t come down with many passes in coverage. They have just three interceptions on the season — one each for CBs Darius Slay and Justin Coleman, as well as one for DB Tracy Walker. The bad news is that they are second in the NFL with 12 forced fumbles and lead the league with 8 fumbles recovered. The Giants’ defense might have caught a break with Kerryon Johnson going on injured reserve, but they still have their work cut out for them with Matthew Stafford playing some of the most efficient and effective football of his career. If the Giants want to come away with a win in this game, they are going to need to play a clean game, not give Detroit any extra possessions or better field position. Jets coach Adam Gase said this week that quarterback Sam Darnold should not have been shown on ESPN saying he was “seeing ghosts” while playing against the Patriots, adding that the Jets may no longer cooperate with TV networks that want players to wear microphones. Giants coach Pat Shurmur feels the same way.Shurmur was asked about the situation and said he doesn’t think microphones should be on players during games.“You might expect my answer when it comes to mics,” Shurmur said, via . “I’m not fond of them. I think there are things that get said and corrected during the game that should be internal in my opinion.”Shurmur said that the league needs to balance fans’ interest in hearing what is said with the competitive interest teams have in not letting their opponents hear what they’re saying.“I know that outside, it’s kind of interesting and nice for broadcasts to see that stuff Daniel Jones NFL Jersey ,” Shurmur said. “If you ask me my opinion about mics, I’m not fond of it. Plus, when you have a mic, then some of what you’re communicating at the line of scrimmage now becomes public record.”The NFL does require players and coaches to wear microphones at certain times during the season, and Shurmur actually wore a microphone for NFL Films during Sunday’s game. But airing the footage during games is different than putting it on an NFL Films show that airs later, and it won’t be surprising if coaches increasingly speak out against those “mic’d up” moments.

and returned to the game New England Patriots running back Jeremy Hill looked shaken up against the Carolina Panthers when he was horsecollared by a Panthers defender and subsequently had his legs awkwardly rolled up on. Hill hobbled to the sideline and appeared to be in a lot of pain. After the game http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-james-harrison-jersey , Hill did not appear to be limping in the locker room, per the Herald’s Kevin Duffy, and it turns out that Hill actually returned to the game after his injury:Hill is competing with Mike Gillislee for one of the final roster spots and any injury at this stage of the preseason would likely lead to an unfortunate separation. Hill has the edge on Gillislee through three games, although Gillislee did look better for stretches of Friday’s game.Hopefully Hill is correct in that he avoided any injury and that he will be available for the Patriots. He’s been able to contribute on special teams and as a three-down player, so he would be a good player to have on the roster. CINCINNATI (AP) — Andy Dalton had a career day. The defense played far better than at any time last season. An opener that could have turned ugly became a point of optimism. The Bengals couldn’t pull off the upset in Seattle, but the way they played suggested that this could be a much different team under first-year coach Zac Taylor.A 21-20 loss to the Seahawks left Cincinnati disappointed but not discouraged. In fact, the Bengals came away feeling pretty good Isaiah Wynn Jersey , all things considered.“The first full game as a team, really, with these systems in place, these players in the building — there’s some unknowns that come with that,” Taylor said Monday. “We expected to win that game and feel we should have won that game, but I think our guys now know we’re as good as we think we can be.“We can’t make the same mistakes we just did, but we’re a football team that’s poised to do some really good things if we continue to make the improvements we need to make.”WHAT’S WORKINGOne of the biggest questions in Seattle was how Dalton would look his first time running Taylor’s full offense. The Bengals threw a lot of screen passes to negate the Seahawks’ pass rush Womens Danny Etling Jersey , and Dalton took advantage of a defense that sometimes conceded short throws — a “rope-a-dope” approach, as Seahawks coach Pete Carroll put it.Dalton had a career-high 35 completions in 51 attempts, three shy of his career high. He finished with a career-best 418 yards with two touchdowns , no interceptions and five sacks. He also fumbled twice. In his first time in the new offense, Dalton was a very good fit.“We were encouraged by everything we did,” Dalton said .WHAT NEEDS HELPThe run game. Cincinnati was able to throw for so many yards in part because Seattle stacked the line of scrimmage to stop Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, and it worked. They combined for only 13 carries and 31 yards. Mixon left with a sprained ankle. It’s unclear whether he’ll be available next Sunday against San Francisco.STOCK UPSam Hubbard had a career-high 10 tackles and two sacks Youth Isaiah Wynn Jerseys , matching his career high. The second-year end anchored a line that limited Seattle to 233 yards and 72 yards rushing. The Seahawks managed only 12 first downs and had the ball for 11 minutes less than the Bengals. It all started with the line.“Those guys really gave us a great chance to make plays on the back end,” cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said. “If they keep that up, there’s going to be a lot of chances for turnovers.”STOCK DOWNRandy Bullock made a pair of field goals, but was wide left on a 45-yard attempt in the third quarter that could have made it 20-14. It was one of several missed opportunities that could have swung the game. Dalton fumbled on Cincinnati’s opening possession of the second half, the wet ball slipping out of his hand as he got ready to throw a screen pass on a play from the Seattle 12-yard line. Those two missed chances prevented Cincinnati from taking control.INJUREDMixon got his left ankle twisted on a run early in the third quarter and didn’t return. Taylor said Monday that the injury is only a sprain and Mixon is day to day, which was encouraging news. Mixon led the AFC in rushing last season with 1,168 yards.KEY NUMBERThe Bengals averaged 50 Isaiah Wynn Jerseys Stitched ,753 fans for their home games last season, the second-lowest mark in the NFL. It’ll be interesting to see whether the solid overall showing in Seattle helps sell more tickets for their home opener Sunday against the 49ers.NEXT STEPSWin a game. The Bengals had several chances to pull off the big upset on the road, but missed their chances to take control in the second half and let it slip away.

NEW YORK (AP) — Todd Bowles’ tenure with the New York Jets 02.01.2020 04:29 Forum: Treffs - Fahrten und Events

began four years ago with plenty of promise. It ended with too many losses and no playoff appearances. The team announced the long-expected decision that it moved on from Bowles on Sunday night Jordan Jenkins Jersey 2019 , a few hours after the Jets wrapped up their season with a 38-3 loss at New England.“I would like to thank coach Bowles for his dedication to the New York Jets for the last four years,” Jets Chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement. “After carefully evaluating the situation, I have concluded that this is the right direction for the organization to take. I would like to wish Todd, Taneka and their family only the best.”Bowles, 54, was hired in January 2015 after New York fired Rex Ryan. The Jets got off to a solid start under Bowles, who guided them to a 10-6 record. But they fell a win shy of the playoffs in his first season after losing a win-and-in game against Ryan’s Bills. Still, many expected the Jets to take the next step under Bowles. It never happened. There was some uncertainty surrounding general manager Mike Maccagnan’s job status, but it appears he will remain in his role and help lead the Jets’ search for a new coach.New York went 4-12 this year after going 5-11 in each of the last two seasons, and Bowles’ in-game management became a focus of heavy criticism. The stoic coach also never endeared himself to frustrated fans who often mistook Bowles’ lack of public emotion for an absence of passion.Bowles was on the hot seat last season, but the team stuck together and he and Maccagnan were given two-year extensions last December by Johnson. The Jets entered this season with their focus on developing rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall draft pick in April, and Johnson did not set a playoff mandate for Bowles or Maccagnan. But the former USC star threw a league-leading 14 interceptions before straining his right foot against Miami on Nov. 4 and sitting out three games. There were glimmers of promise when Darnold returned from the foot injury White Leonard Williams Jerseys , with the rookie throwing for 931 yards and six touchdowns with just one interception — and looking very much a quarterback who can lead the team into the future.Darnold will have to do that with a new coach, though. It appeared Bowles’ fate was sealed when the Jets were blown out by AFC East-rival Buffalo 41-10 on Nov. 11. But Johnson chose to have Bowles finish the season, something New York has traditionally done with its head coaches. The Jets haven’t had an in-season coaching change since 1976, when Lou Holtz resigned with one game remaining and was replaced by Mike Holovak.Still, Bowles was headed to an inevitable ending with the Jets — but never allowed the outside speculation and rumors affect his day-to-day approach with his players.Several players praised Bowles for how he handled himself through everything, and often insisted the team’s failing weren’t the coach’s fault. Still, when asked last week of his assessment of his performance, Bowles pointed the finger only at himself.“The record says it all,” Bowles said. The Jets’ next coach will likely be working with a revamped roster, with the team expected to have more than $100 million in salary cap space in the offseason. The goal will be to surround Darnold with as much talent as possible while the franchise builds for the future.Maccagnan has also been heavily criticized for his spotty track record in the draft and lack of overall roster depth at key spots, but will get a chance to continue shaping the team.“You have to go get players, man,” safety Jamal Adams said after the game. “You have to get big-time players. It’s simple. You look at the Saints. You look at the Rams. You look at the Chicago Bears. You look at all those teams. You have to go get players.”Maccagnan was hired by the Jets a day before they brought on Bowles Leonard Williams Jerseys 2019 , and the two appeared to have a mostly solid working relationship. But the makeup of the roster has left something to be desired — and Maccagnan didn’t have the ultimate say in the hiring of Bowles, something he will likely have this time around.Recent first-rounders Adams, Leonard Williams and Darron Lee are starters, along with Darnold, but only 12 of the 22 players drafted from 2015-17 under Maccagnan remain on the roster. The bulk of the crop from those draft classes should be major depth pieces now, namely wide receivers Devin Smith (second round, 2015), ArDarius Stewart (third round, 2017) and Chad Hansen (fourth, 2017), and linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin (third round, 2015).Maccagnan’s biggest draft blunder came in 2016, when he took quarterback Christian Hackenberg in the second round despite most NFL scouts considering the former Penn State star a major project. Hackenberg never developed White Kelechi Osemele Jerseys , was traded to Oakland in May and is now in the Alliance of American Football after stops with two other NFL teams. As a result of the lackluster drafts, the Jets will need to make a big-time splash in free agency during the offseason.Bowles came to the Jets as a highly sought candidate after leading Arizona’s aggressive-style defense for two seasons and winning the first AP Assistant Coach of the Year award in 2014. He beat out five other candidates, including current Atlanta coach Dan Quinn and Jacksonville coach Doug Marrone. It marked a homecoming for Bowles, a native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, who also served as the Jets’ defensive backs coach under Al Groh during the 2000 season. Bowles played eight NFL seasons as a defensive back before working his way through the coaching ranks as an assistant. He went 2-1 as Miami’s interim head coach in 2011.Bowles was the Jets’ sixth straight defense-focused head coach and fifth since Woody Johnson took over the Jets in 2000, joining Ryan, Eric Mangini, Herm Edwards, Groh and Bill Parcells.New York could opt to go with an offense-minded coach this time around, especially with Darnold the face of the franchise and the team’s inability in recent years to develop young quarterbacks. The franchise is also starving for a Super Bowl appearance, something it hasn’t had since 1969. The first XFL location, which emerged this week Kelechi Osemele Jerseys 2019 , will be neither an NFL nor an AFL city. The next seven will all be cities in which the NFL currently plays.According to a post on the Wrestle Zone blog, the XFL inadvertently posted a list of all eight teams. The link provided to the XFL page currently contains no such information; instead, there’s a video announcing that an announcement is coming on December 5.Per the report, the cities (in addition to St. Louis) are Dallas, Houston, L.A., New York, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington. It’s a bold move by a bold man who resurrected the XFL, dropping teams directly into seven cities currently served by more than 25 percent of the NFL’s current teams. And it will require a fan base that already is largely loyal to one NFL team (or, in the case of L.A., all 32 of them) to embrace a minor-league team that plays in non-football season. The wild-card here will be the legalization of gambling. Which makes Tampa a somewhat surprising choice White Jamison Crowder Jerseys , given the results of a ballot initiative that will make it much harder to have legalized wagering in Florida. Although people obviously will be able bet on Tampa games in states where wagering is legal, any live, in-game, in-stadium betting won’t happen in Tampa unless and until Florida legalizes wagering.Regardless, the XFL will return in 2020, 19 years after its initial one-year experiment. And it won’t be competing with the AAF, at least not on the local level.

part of trade chatter as the offseason unfolded and cornerback Xavier Rhodes was on that list.Rhodes didn’t wind up going anywhere Womens Everson Griffen Jersey , but that wasn’t because the team was overjoyed by his play last season. Head coach Mike Zimmer said Rhodes “needs to play up to that contract” he signed in 2017 that is set to pay him over $10 million this season. The critique was received well by Rhodes. He said he appreciates “being hard on us, being tough on us” and believes last year’s play was worthy of a rebuke on many fronts.“Me and him spoke on that,” Rhodes said, via the . “I mean, we had a bad year as a whole team, so everybody was messing up. We all need to come together as at team and correct our mistakes. I was one of those guys being a leader on the team, not making as many plays as I did in previous years.”Zimmer said on Wednesday that Rhodes is “doing better” this offseason, but the full response won’t come until several months from now. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have kept the heart of their defense intact with a hefty commitment to linebacker Anthony Barr. For the four-time Pro Bowl pick, a late offer to stay with the only NFL team he’s played for proved too valuable to pass up.According to a person with direct knowledge of the deal, Barr agreed Tuesday to re-sign with the Vikings on a five-year, $67.5 million contract with $33 million guaranteed and more money available through escalators. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had not yet been announced by the Vikings Brett Jones Jersey , who had until the beginning of the new league year Wednesday to clear the necessary space for Barr’s contract to fit under the salary cap.Barr first made a verbal agreement to join the New York Jets, according to reports by ESPN and the NFL Network, but he ultimately changed his mind to remain with the team that drafted him ninth overall in 2014.In an Instagram post Tuesday night, Barr confirmed his decision and thanked the Vikings ownership, executives and coaches for the opportunity to return .“It’s been a crazy couple days, but I’m where I want to be,” Barr said. “I believe in our locker room. I love my guys! Back to work!”The Vikings landed quarterback Kirk Cousins last season, despite a larger offer from the Jets. Fifteen years ago, at the persistence of then-coach Mike Tice and his friend’s private plane, the Vikings persuaded cornerback Antoine Winfield to abandon his visit to the Jets and sign with Minnesota instead.Barr was the first draft pick by the Vikings under coach Mike Zimmer, whose 4-3 base defense has been a natural fit for the sleek http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-hughes-jersey , 6-foot-5, 255-pound Barr . The variety of assignments the scheme has put him in at the strong side spot have minimized pass-rushing opportunities, though, and limited his career total to 13½ sacks. He took some turns at defensive end last season and spoke often of a preference to run forward, not backward in coverage, raising the possibility he’d seek a new team with a 3-4 system. Though Zimmer has repeatedly praised Barr over the last five years, the coach bluntly stated in 2016 that Barr “has a tendency to coast a little bit.” Whether the reason was effort or scheme, the Vikings have had their share of games when Barr’s presence went largely unnoticed. When the Vikings gave new deals last summer to wide receiver Stefon Diggs and defensive end Danielle Hunter but didn’t reach an extension with Barr, the likelihood he would leave only increased. But Barr’s primary agent, Brian Murphy of the Southern California-based Athletes First firm, has built a strong relationship over recent years with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman and executive vice president for football operations Rob Brzezinski through negotiations on previous megadeals for defensive end Everson Griffen Womens Tom Compton Jersey , tight end Kyle Rudolph and safety Harrison Smith. Murphy also represents cornerback Trae Waynes, who has entered the final year of his rookie contract. The Vikings entered the offseason with little cap space, after spending big on Cousins, Diggs and Hunter in 2018. They jettisoned two players, guard Mike Remmers and safety Andrew Sendejo , for more room. Another starter, defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, reached an agreement with the Cleveland Browns. He’ll likely be replaced by Shamar Stephen, who according to multiple reports has agreed to return to the Vikings, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2014.

coaching staff after beating the Bears in Week Eight.Ken Whisenhunt was fired as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Shane Steichen was tabbed to call the offensive plays for the rest of the season. His first day in the job couldn’t have gone much better. The Chargers set season highs in rushing yards and total offensive yards in a 26-11 win over the Packers. That earned Steichen some praise from head coach Anthony Lynn when the game was over.“Shane did an outstanding job Antonio Morrison Jersey ,” Lynn said, via the . “I thought he was aggressive when he needed to be aggressive. He did a good job establishing the run when he had to.”The Chargers can get back to .500 by winning in Oakland next weekend. A repeat of Sunday’s offensive performance would help make that happen while raising confidence that the team can still find its way into the playoff mix before the year is out. In a pivotal year for the Packers front office, these moves would help the Packers maximize improvement while preserving their long-term outlook."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football Adviceoutlook.CSTShareTweetShareShareWhat does a perfect 2019 Packers offseason look like? Signing Adrian Amos won’t have the sexiness of landing Earl Thomas, but for the money it’s a better option for the Packers. Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY SportsBrian Gutekunst has it all this offseason. A new coach, cap space, and a hoard of draft capital to put the Packers squarely back into playoff contention and competing for Super Bowls. With free agency days away and the draft rapidly approaching, we examine where the value might be in play addition, what it would cost, and how best to approach building this roster for 2019 and beyond. Aaron Rodgers’ mega-deal doesn’t hamstring the Packers as much as has been said and there are a couple moves Green Bay can make to free up even more money to spend if they so choose. The idea is to create a likely scenario, not just play Madden. With that in mind, here is one way to craft the offseason to maximize value and team improvement. Cut Nick Perry with a post-June 1 designation While this doesn’t save the Packers in the short-term for free agency, it frees up considerable cap in 2019 and 2020 which would help them sign their draft class and the Bashaud Breeland type free agents. More on Breeland to come. The money for his roster bonus wouldn’t come off until June 2nd, but that alone is $4.8 million in relief. All in, the Packers would save $10.7 million with $4 million in dead cap for 2019 and $6.9 million in 2020 when the Packers will have gobs of cash to spend even without this move. Cut Tramon Williams This has more immediately salary cap relief implications for the Packers. The soon-to-be-36-year-old Williams has a cap hit of just under $6.4 million in 2019 but would save the Packers $4.7 million this offseason. That’s enough to pay a legitimate starting-caliber player, like say a former starting cornerback forced to take the veteran minimum after a bizarre injury scuttled a free-agent contract.Re-sign Bashaud Breeland for three years Jimmy Graham Jersey , $18 million Before an infection in his foot voided the deal, Breeland signed a three-year, $24 million contract with the Panthers. Breeland joined the Packers on a minimum deal to rehabilitate his value and struggled with new injuries, a problem that hadn’t cropped up in Washington. But given that rocky season and another year of age on his body, Breeland can’t rightly demand the full $8 million APY he got in free agency a year ago. That said, he showed enough to be a starting-caliber player for the Packers, making splash plays when he was on the field. He’d be a stabilizing force in a secondary full of young players and wouldn’t cost much. They’re basically trading Breeland for Williams and an extra million dollars. That’s a huge win for the Packers. Sign Anthony Barr for four years, $56 million The case for this contract is simple: top-of-market linebacker money even just for Anthony Barr the off-ball linebacker would be in the $10 million to $12 million range. He can’t command a top 3-4 OLB contract because we haven’t seen him full-time pass rush since UCLA. If his floor is a Pro Bowl jack-of-all-trades linebacker, this contract is only a slight overpay. The additional $2 million to $4 million is paying for that rush upside. More on why that makes sense here. Before the Perry cut, the Packers have roughly $34 million in cap space for this offseason. After the $14 million APY here (and they can play with the numbers as needed), they’d be down to $20 million. Sign Adrian Amos for four years, $32 million Four years is the window. That’s how long the Packers have Aaron Rodgers under his mega-deal and that’s the likely minimum number of seasons he’ll be the starter barring major injury. Amos turns 26 next month, which means he’ll be 30 when this deal is over, putting it in the prime of his career. Overshadowed by rising star Eddie Jackson in Chicago, Amos brings the right skill set to play deep or in the box for the Packers in Mike Pettine’s amoeba defense. The Bears may have to let him walk if they decide to pay Bryce Callahan and Amos isn’t considered in the realm of top-of-market safeties like Landon Collins or Earl Thomas Elgton Jenkins Green Bay Packers Jersey , even if he probably should be. Shave another $8 million off the cap space, leaving the Packers with $12 million left. Sign guard Quinton Spain for four years, $16 million Mark Glowinski re-signed with the Colts for $6 million APY, which sets the non-Rodger Saffold market. Spain played for Matt LaFleur last year in Tennessee, is just 28, and could come in to start at either guard spot for the Packers. He sits in that sweet spot of not overpaying for a name like Saffold but has clear value beyond the James Carpenter’s of the free agent class. This would leave a little less than $7 million under the cap, with Perry’s money set to come off the books in June. Plenty of money to sign the draft class and still have a rainy day fund. Draft Montez Sweat at No. 12 overallMaybe this is cheating a little after the combine where Sweat put together an all-time performance with athletic testing. If he’s there, it’s a no-brainer. If he’s not, Clelin Ferrell provides more than enough value to justify his selection, as does Brian Burns, setting up the Packers to address their one remaining glaring need for a pure pass rusher. Signing Barr would also make it easier to let a player like Burns develop his body and technique without having to play 90 percent of snaps right away.Draft Chris Lindstrom at No. 30 overallLindstrom can play guard or tackle making him the kind of swing offensive lineman the Packers love. After testing as an elite athlete, with experience at tackle and guard, Lindstrom fits the profile for this front office to the letter. If Bryan Bulaga has to miss games, Lindstrom slots in at right tackle, with the chance to be the successor. If Lane Taylor or Spain get hurt Elgton Jenkins Jersey 2019 , Lindstrom can handle their role as well. Rush the quarterback and protect your own; no two tenants of the game are more important. Draft Irv Smith Jr. at No. 44 overallFrankly, the 20-year-old Alabama tight end would be a fine value at 30, despite measuring smaller at the combine than many anticipated. He still ran 4.6 and his agility testing belies the fluidity he shows in games. More importantly, he can block. Even if he’s relegated to a glorified H-Back role, that has more value for the Packers than most teams because of Matt LaFleur’s offense. Smith offers the perfect upside opportunity to take on a secondary role in 2019 as he grows into the NFL game, before taking over in 2020 once Jimmy Graham is out of the picture. Trade up to draft Juan Thornhill at No. 58 overallThere’s a clear cut off around the top-50 of players capable of impacting games, not just in this class, but historically speaking. Someone will fall, they always do. Green Bay can package the 75th pick with both fourth-round selections to sneak back into the second to grab a player like Thornhill. He’s the platonic ideal of a big nickel safety who can cover, play deep, and defend the run. Virginia even played him at cornerback in a pinch and though his outstanding athletic ability didn’t consistently show up in college, the Packers should trust Mike Pettine to maximize him.

pass rush If one thing has become clear about the Green Bay Packers’ defense after two weeks Marcedes Lewis Jersey , it’s that there is a lack of a consistent pass rush. This isn’t too surprising, given the depth chart going into and then after the offseason but it’s something the Packers and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine are going to have to adapt to as the season wears on.Of course, the NFL all but outlawing proper tackling technique doesn’t help either but Green Bay defenders aren’t getting home consistently anyway. Still, the hope was the defensive line of Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark and Mohammed Wilkerson would be more than enough the alleviate the woes outside. While Clark is wrecking everything in his path and Daniels and Wilkerson have both had their moments, the interior pass rush isn’t opening lanes like many thought. Pettine did choose extra coverage over a pass rush against Mitchell Trubisky and Kirk Cousins and both players put up big numbers (though Cousins’ would have been reduced by roughly 150 yards had the game ended when it should have). Now Pettine will have to adjust. This is what doomed his predecessor, not adjusting when needed or doing so too late. It’s doubtful Pettine will fall into the same trap, but it still beats watching. You can read more on the lack of pass rush and more in today’s cheese curds.Analysis: With inside rush lacking, Packers’ Mike Pettine must adjustEveryone thought the defensive line would be a strength for Green Bay this season and it has been to an extent but they’re still not helping develop a pass rush, interior or exterior. Packers appreciate Aaron Rodgers ‘laying it on the line’—Packers.comObvious headlines are obvious, but Rodgers’ surprising mobility and toughness elevated his team’s play. Packers getting RB Aaron Jones back from suspension in Week 3–Packers WireJamaal Williams did decent work as the starting running back the first two weeks of the season, but Jones is the best running back on the team. The options Green Bay now has with both backs and the underappreciated Ty Montgomery will make the offense an even bigger handful for opposing defenses.NFL’s Green Bay Packers need to revamp ticket policy for infants Lance Kendricks Jersey , new mom says—FOX NewsThe Packers are one of only six teams to require a ticket for all attendees, even infants. Most other teams have a height and age restriction as to who can enter the game free as a lap child. For a team know as being a small-town, tight-knit community maybe it’s time for them to join the 21st century and update this policy?Wandering cat causes power outage in New Orleans—UPI.comI’m admittedly a dog person and that’s because cats can sometimes be the devil incarnate. Don’t let their cuteness fool you. They can be just as deadly as the rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That cat has a mean streak a mile wide! The two players selected will probably be good pros, but Kiper chose not to get the Packers an impact pass-rusher."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCSTShareTweetShareSharePackers Mock Draft 2019: Mel Kiper skips EDGE in favor of WR and ILB in round oneBen Queen-USA TODAY SportsThe Green Bay Packers need pass-rushers. You know it, I know it, everybody associated with the NFL knows it. And in a revelation that is sure to shock nobody, ESPN’s Mel Kiper appears to be the only one who does not appreciate the serious of that need. The problem with Kiper’s latest mock draft is not only the fact that he chose not to project an edge rusher to the Packers in the first round — it is the positions he did project that call this entire exercise into question. Specifically, these are positions that the Packers have not drafted in round one since 2006. Furthermore, with such pressing needs elsewhere and players of comparable (or even better) value available at those spots, it feels like Kiper does not truly appreciate the urgency of the need on the edge. For the first example, let’s look at Kiper’s projection for the Packers’ selection at the 12th overall pick. He has the team taking wide receiver Marquise Brown from Oklahoma:Yes, edge rusher is very much a position to watch here. Four top options went off the board in Kiper’s top five — Nick Bosa Davon House Jersey , Josh Allen, Rashan Gary, and Montez Sweat — but that still leaves Jachai Polite, Clelin Ferrell, and Brian Burns as reasonable options at 12. Instead, Kiper goes to the wide receiver position.Personally, I like Brown. I like his fit with the Packers a lot. But I don’t like his value at 12, not compared to one of the above mentioned edge rushers. If the Packers landed a pass-rusher at 12 and moved up into the early 20s for Brown, I’d be all for it, but this just doesn’t seem to be good value, at least at this point before the Combine takes place. Then, 18 picks later Dean Lowry Jersey , Kiper again chooses not to land an outside linebacker, instead projecting Michigan off-ball linebacker Devin Bush to Green Bay:In this writer’s interpretation, Kiper’s saying the Packers “could be in the market for an outside linebacker” is just his way of justifying getting out of round one without projecting one to Green Bay at either selection. Create doubt where there is none.Admittedly, with the top edge rushers all gone by the 27th pick (when Kiper projected Brian Burns to come off the board), the value probably isn’t there for one of the players in the next tier. But that simply underscores the issues with projecting a receiver instead of an outside linebacker at 12 — even if he doesn’t know who he’s picking later on, he must try to put himself in a team’s shoes to see if a player at a critical position will fall to the next pick.As for Bush, the value for the player seems reasonable. However, we fall back on the common refrain that the Packers do not appear to value off-ball linebackers high enough to seriously consider one in round one. Furthermore, the team drafted Oren Burks in round three last year, making him the team’s highest-drafted off-ball linebacker since A.J. Hawk. It is difficult to imagine them spending a lot of draft capital at the position this year unless a player fell far below where the Packers value him.Stay tuned for later today, as SB Nation’s Dan Kadar should have his latest mock publishing.

A minor roster move for the purple"On Thursday 12.12.2019 03:24 Forum: Treffs - Fahrten und Events

Olisaemeka Udoh Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , the Minnesota Vikings made a minor roster move involving the release of a former Minnesota Golden Gopher. The team has announced that they have released cornerback Jalen Myrick, who spent most of last season on the Vikings’ practice squad.Myrick played his collegiate career with the Golden Gophers, and was then selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2018, he was signed by the Vikings to the practice squad on three different occasions, getting waived twice in between, and finally signed a futures contract with the Vikings at the conclusion of the regular season. With the Vikings having signed several defensive backs in the past couple of weeks, I suppose a move like this isn’t entirely surprising. I’m sure that if the Vikings feel compelled to bring Myrick back in time for camp they’ll be able to get a hold of him. It’s not earth-shaking news or anything like that, but with a lot of the league in a holding pattern until the 2019 NFL Draft, we’re happy to pass along whatever we can. “23-21” may not carry the importance or gravitas of “38-7”, but it still felt pretty darn good. While nothing the Vikings could have done on Sunday would have made up for the devastation of their NFC Championship Game loss last January, returning to the scene of the crime and escaping Philadelphia with a much-needed victory over the Super Bowl champions was crucial for them. The previously poor performing defense stepped up in a big way against the Eagles, quieting some (but not all) of the concern surrounding a unit that was so stout a season ago. Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen continued their record-setting pace while the run game wasn’t completely invisible this time around. The kicking game once again caused plenty of consternation and high blood pressure, but in the end the Vikings were able to put together a solid team victory on the road and get back to .500 through five games. Let’s take our weekly review of the five biggest plays that got us there.Play 1: Eagles, ball, 1st & 10 at the Minnesota 31. Second quarter Minnesota Vikings Jerseys Stitched , 4:24 remaining. (Shotgun) C.Wentz sacked at MIN 39 for -8 yards (S.Weatherly). FUMBLES (S.Weatherly) [S.Weatherly], RECOVERED by MIN-L.Joseph at MIN 36. L.Joseph for 64 yards, TOUCHDOWN.LINVAL HUNGRY!The Vikings had dominated for the majority of the first 25 minutes of the game, yet they found themselves tied 3-3 (more on why it was still a tie game later) as Philadelphia was driving to take the lead late in the second quarter. Stephen Weatherly executed a nifty swim move to burst past Lane Johnson and hit Carson Wentz, causing the ball to fall directly into the hands of one Linval Joseph. “Big Goon” rumbled 64 yards to pay dirt for the game’s first touchdown and gave the Vikings a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.A big part of the defense’s resurgence this week was the pass rush. With Everson Griffen out indefinitely and Tashawn Bower sidelined with an injury, the Vikings were incredibly thin at defensive end. Weatherly and Danielle Hunter both played over 90% of the defensive snaps and were still able to help generate a lot of pressure on Wentz throughout the game. Weatherly has seen an increased workload in each of the last three games and he has performed better each time out. Andre Patterson has done an excellent job of coaching up the former seventh-round pick, which led to this play, which led to Joseph needing oxygen on the sideline, which led to one of the most meme-able images of the season.Play 2: Vikings ball, 2nd & 6 at the Philadelphia 23. Second quarter, 0:36 remaining. (Shotgun) K.Cousins sacked at PHI 31 for -8 yards (M.Bennett). PENALTY on PHI-M.Bennett, Roughing the Passer, 12 yards, enforced at PHI 23 - No Play. The Vikings were putting together something that had previously been a rarity in the 2018 season: a promising two-minute drive. But it looked like they were about to face third and long just outside of the red zone after Michael Bennett shoved aside Kyle Rudolph and sacked Cousins.Enter the NFL two-hand touch rules! Bennett was flagged for a pretty dubious roughing the passer penalty to give the Vikings a new set of downs at the Eagles’ 11 yard line. Troy Aikman and many with purple-shaded glasses throughout the Twitterverse claimed that Bennett “went low” here; I disagree. Look at where the impact started—right at Cousins’ rear end. Bennett then slid down to finish the tackle. While the call benefited the Vikings and may have been correct by the letter of the law, I still think it was weak. The Vikings definitely took advantage of the opportunity with one of the more gorgeous passes of the season thus far. Once again Bennett was in Cousins’ grill Olisaemeka Udoh Jersey nfl draft , but that didn’t prevent an absolute dime of a fade to Adam Thielen. Thielen fought through a defensive hold from Ronald Darby, toe-tapped in the corner of the end zone, and the Vikings took a 17-3 lead to the locker room.Play 3: Eagles ball, 1st & goal at the Minnesota 6. Third quarter, 9:47 remaining. (Shotgun) J.Ajayi right tackle to MIN 5 for 1 yard. FUMBLES, RECOVERED by MIN-E.Kendricks at MIN 5. E.Kendricks to MIN 5 for no gain (J.Ajayi).After a first half where the Vikings looked like they had regained their 2017 form, the second half started a lot like the past few games all over again. The Eagles were marching down the field in hopes of making it a one score game to start the third quarter. Thankfully for the Vikings, the fumbling problems that have hampered Jay Ajayi at times throughout his career popped up at just the right time.Eric Kendricks pounced on the ball and the promising Philadelphia drive was instantly stymied. In a game where the Vikings ended up clinging to a two-point victory, this abrupt change of momentum was crucial. Instead of pulling to within a touchdown with nearly a half remaining, the Eagles found themselves trailing 20-3 after the ensuing Vikings drive. That ensuing drive was fueled in large part by the very next play.Play 4: Vikings ball, 1st & 10 at the Minnesota 5. Third quarter, 9:33 remaining. (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass deep right to A.Thielen to PHI 27 for 68 yards (J.Mills) [F.Cox].After already completing a couple of amazing passes to Thielen with pressure in his face, Cousins went for the hat trick to flip the field.Fletcher Cox slammed into Cousins as he threw, yet somehow the arching pass found its way right into Thielen’s arms. Thielen got open by roasting Jalen Mills—a common theme throughout the day, which made Mills’ chirping at Thielen later in the game even more inexplicable—and then added some nifty moves to rack up a bunch of yards after the catch.Getting a huge gain like this immediately after forcing a turnover is a delicious combo platter if you’re a Vikings fan.Even though the Vikings finished the drive with a field goal and a commanding 17-point lead Super Bowl Olisaemeka Udoh Jersey , we all had the sneaking suspicion that finishing off the defending champions wasn’t going to be that easy. Our notions were verified when the Eagles came storming back to within six points. The Vikings had just turned the ball over in their own territory and Philadelphia was within scoring range. The defense needed a stop in the worst way, and they got one when Weatherly and Hunter pressured Wentz into an intentional grounding penalty that knocked Philly out of field goal range. This probably should have been my fifth and final game-changing play, as it kept points off the board and led to the final Vikings scoring drive of the day. But I had to go with the final scoring play itself due to how important was to the psyche of everyone involved.Play 5: Vikings ball 4th & 5 at the Philadelphia 34. Fourth quarter, 2:51 remaining. D.Bailey 52 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-K.McDermott, Holder-M.Wile.Dan Bailey had a pretty bad day on Sunday. But thanks to this kick, it avoided Daniel Carlson or Mason Crosby levels. After forcing the fourth quarter stop, the Vikings desperately needed to chew up some clock and get some points. They chewed up some clock thanks to a rushing attack that upgraded from “completely nonexistent” to “occasionally competent.” They got some points thanks to a kicker that nailed one from long distance despite missing two shorter kicks earlier in the game.Bailey had already hit the left upright on a 28-yard chip shot to end the game’s opening drive and missed a 45-yard attempt in the second quarter. The second most accurate kicker in league history had appeared to be the latest to crumble after donning the purple and gold. Mercifully, Bailey nailed this clutch attempt to keep the sanity of Mike Zimmer and Vikings Nation precariously intact for another week. There is still plenty to work on, but getting a road win over the defending champs might just be the shot in the arm the Vikings needed after a rocky start. We’ll see if they can keep it rolling next week as they try to avoid another home loss to a rookie quarterback when Josh Rosen and the Arizona Cardinals come to town. As always, we welcome you to vote in the poll to tell us which play you thought was the biggest and encourage you to suggest any we may have missed in the comments.

Generally speaking Womens Rashard Robinson Jersey , a General Manager operates as a team’s chief scout. In some situations, the General Manager operates more generally as a manager. Which maybe better fits with the name of the job.“I want to find somebody that just looking forward, not talking about Mike [Maccagnan] here, I want a great strategic thinker,” Jets CEO and chairman Christopher Johnson told reporters on Wednesday. “It’s more than a talent-evaluation guy. I want a great manager, a communicator http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-jamal-adams-jersey , who can collaborate well with the building. I’m convinced we’re going to find that person.”Maccagnan may have been a good scout, but he apparently wasn’t a great manager. Brian Costello of the reports that the change had a lot to do with Maccagnan’s “indecisiveness,” and that Maccagnan took too long to make decisions and “was too wishy-washy at times.”“Wishy-washy” wasn’t going to fly with a guy like Adam Gase, who even if he didn’t actively try to topple Maccagnan would have indirectly contributed to the move through whatever stream of “holy sh-t can we make a f–king decision here?”-type comments emerged in the heat of the moment as the Jets were trying to get things done.So now Maccagnan is done, and Johnson will be looking for a big-picture strategic thinker/manager/communicator/collaborator — and, presumably Brian Winters Jersey , someone else who will serve as the chief scout.Basically, Johnson wants another Mike Tannenbaum-style G.M., with another Terry Bradyway-style once-was-a-G.M.-but-instead-focuses-on-finding-players personnel executive.Unless, of course, Gase’s possibly unintended power play results in Johnson realizing that Gase is the right guy to lead the organization, and that a personnel executive will be hired to simply help him set the table. Only when Gase declares that that kind of talk “pisses me off” will we know that such a decision is imminent. When Jets CEO and chairman Christopher Johnson remained publicly silent amid rampant reports of a potential General Manager change Womens Wayne Chrebet Jersey , it should have been obvious that a change could still happen. And now it has, officially.“This morning, I informed Mike [Maccagnan] that he was being relieved of his duties as General Manager of the team, effective immediately,” Johnson said in a statement issued not long after the report of the change emerged. “Mike helped to execute the strategic vision of the organization during the last four seasons and especially the past few months. However, I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets. I will start a search for our new General Manager immediately. In the interim http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-quincy-enunwa-jersey , Coach Gase will be the acting General Manager. I would like to thank Mike for his time and effort during his tenure, and I wish only the best for him and his wife Betty.”It’s possible that the move would have happened immediately after the draft, and that the rumors and reports that the move was coming prompted Johnson to wait until those rumors and reports died down. Regardless, Maccagnan is now out and, for now, coach Adam Gase runs the show.

The Patriots have been trying to move on from Ryan Allen for the past couple of seasons and Bailey is just another move to improve the New England’s special teams unit. Here’s why the Patriots selected Jake Bailey.Bailey is extremely versatilePossibly the biggest reason for the Patriots to take Bailey was his versatility at Stanford. Not only did he carry the traditional punter and holder roles, he also was responsible for kickoffs. As Stephen Gostkowski heads down the final few years of his career, the Patriots could shift some of the kicking responsibilities to Bailey and allow Gostkowski to focus on field goals and extra points. He was named Second Team All American in each of the past two years by Pro Football Focus. He might not have the two Ray Guy awards that Ryan Allen earned as the best punter in college football, but Bailey is highly competitive.Ryan Allen is inconsistentAllen had the game of his career in Super Bowl 53, but for much of his career he’s been an average punter. New England tried to find Allen’s replacement with Corey Bojorquez last offseason N'Keal Harry NFL Draft , but were unable to stash him on the practice squad. Bailey is yet another competitor for Allen’s job.The fifth round picks are meant for special teamersNo one should blink if a fifth round pick doesn’t make the roster, so the Patriots can hold an open competition between Allen and Bailey and have the best player make the roster. SEATTLE (AP) — In a way only Pete Carroll could enjoy, the Seattle Seahawks coach was perfectly fine seeing his team trailing going into the fourth quarter against the Bengals.Maybe it was because he knew what was being dialed up to start the final 15 minutes.“We played from behind the whole day and those guys never stopped. They never stopped thinking we were going to win the football game and that’s so valuable to us,” Carroll said.Article continues below ...Seattle never trailed again after Russell Wilson hit Tyler Lockett for a 44-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter, and the Seahawks withstood a career day from Andy Dalton to beat Cincinnati 21-20 on Sunday. It was not supposed to be this tough for one of the favorites in the NFC. Seattle had DK Metcalf, Jadaveon Clowney and several other new options to deploy against a revamped Bengals team under first-year coach Zac Taylor. It nearly became one of the big upsets of the opening week. Wilson and the Seahawks struggled offensively for most of the game, but got the big plays they needed on a day Dalton looked great running Taylor’s system.Wilson was 14 of 20 for 196 yards and two scores Color Rush Jarrett Stidham Jersey , including a 10-yard TD pass in the first half to Chris Carson , who broke three tackles on his way to the end zone. Carson also had a 1-yard TD run.“We started off kind of rusty. It was something we had to get the hang of, but we have to start off faster than that,” Carson said.Wilson’s numbers were pedestrian compared to Dalton’s. The veteran threw for a career-high 418 yards and two first-half touchdowns to John Ross as the Bengals used some trickery, luck and a smart game plan to surprise the Seahawks. But after leading 17-14 at halftime, the Bengals failed to score on three possessions inside Seattle’s 36-yard line in the third quarter, and that became the difference.“One of those drives probably would have won it for us Youth Jarrett Stidham Jersey ,” Taylor said.Ross, who played collegiately across town at Washington and had 210 yards receiving all of last season, finished with seven catches for 158 yards. He caught a 33-yard touchdown on a flea-flicker midway through the second quarter and hauled in a 55-yard TD pass with 7 seconds left in the first half after Seattle safety Tedric Thompson misjudged Dalton’s pass.Thompson’s whiff at picking off Dalton was one of several mistakes by Seattle that allowed the Bengals to hang around. Wilson was sacked four times. The Seahawks, the top running team in the NFL last season, rushed for only 72 yards. The Bengals had 22 first downs and nearly 36 minutes of possession. But Cincinnati missed its chance to take control.Carson fumbled on the first play of the second half, but three plays later at the Seattle 12, Dalton lost control of a wet ball and gave it back to the Seahawks. Kicker Randy Bullock Womens Jarrett Stidham Jersey , who hit from 39 yards in the first half, hooked a 45-yard attempt. And the Bengals were stopped on fourth-and-1 at the Seattle 36 late in the quarter when Giovani Bernard was stuffed for no gain. For all the statistical advantages Cincinnati had, it was only a three-point lead going to the fourth quarter. And it was gone in an instant. After going without a target for the first three quarters, Lockett came free down the seam on a play-action fake and hauled in a touchdown catch on the first play of the fourth quarter to give Seattle a 21-17 lead. Lockett said Cincinnati was defending him in ways he hadn’t seen since college.“It was good to go experience that and see what it might be like down the road,” Lockett said.Cincinnati again failed to find the end zone and settled for a 27-yard field goal from Bullock with seven minutes left to pull within 21-20.Seattle went three-and-out on its next possession and Dalton had 5:30 to work with. He converted one third down but had another third-down pass batted down by Quinton Jefferson, and Cincinnati punted. Carson rumbled for 21 yards on third-and-1 with 3:13 left and Cincinnati out of timeouts. The Bengals got the ball back with 21 seconds left, but Dalton was sacked and fumbled.DALTON’S DAYDalton was 35 of 51 passing and connected with eight different receivers. His previous career high was 383 yards passing against Baltimore in 2015 Authentic Jarrett Stidham Jersey , a game the Bengals won 28-24.CLOWNEY’S DEBUTClowney had a sack in his Seattle debut, chasing down Dalton along the sideline in the fourth quarter. Clowney’s presence opened up opportunity for Quinton Jefferson and Al Woods, who both had big games on Seattle’s defensive line. Jefferson had six tackles, two sacks and two passes defensed.INJURIESCincinnati running back Joe Mixon left in the third quarter with a left ankle injury and did not return. Mixon had just six carries for 10 yards. Seattle lost tight end Will Dissly to a right knee injury in the fourth quarter and special teams standout Neiko Thorpe in the first half with a hamstring injury.Seattle also kept Ziggy Ansah inactive, delaying his debut. Ansah appeared on Friday’s injury report as questionable after practicing all week.UP NEXTBengals: Cincinnati returns home to host San Francisco next Sunday.Seahawks: Seattle plays its road opener at Pittsburgh next Sunday.

Josh Allen led the Buffalo Bills in fantasy scoring this week 12.12.2019 02:43 Forum: Treffs - Fahrten und Events

The Buffalo Bills had a terrible week on the football field Authentic Thomas Sweeney Jersey , losing a 47-3 laugher to the Baltimore Ravens in their season opener. If you started any member of the Bills on your fantasy team this week, chances are high that you also suffered a loss, unless you had some other higher scoring players in your lineup to counterbalance the low-scoring Bills on the field.Of the players we profiled as players worth starting this weekend for Buffalo, Stephen Hauschka led the way, scoring 3 points. If your league deducts a point for missed field goals, however, he only scored 2. Otherwise, LeSean McCoy and Kelvin Benjamin compiled 2.6 and 1.5 points, respectively. Benjamin’s day could have been better, but he was unable to haul in a Josh Allen fastball in the end zone that would have at least added a touchdown to his meager ledger. In all, Benjamin was only able to catch one of seven targets on the afternoon. As for the Bills who led in fantasy scoring, the list was full of players who almost certainly weren’t in any fantasy lineups this week. Here are the top three scorers in fantasy football for the Bills in week one.QB Josh AllenThat’s right. The guy who entered the game with 11 minutes to go in the third quarter ended up leading the Bills in scoring. Allen compiled 5.56 fantasy points, totaling 74 passing yards and 26 rushing yards. He would have had a touchdown had Kelvin Benjamin been able to secure an accurate pass in the end zone. This by no means suggests that you should run out and add Allen off the waiver wire Thomas Sweeney Jersey Boys , as head coach Sean McDermott has not named a starting quarterback for the second game of the season yet. It does illustrate just how awful the Bills were on Sunday, however.WR Zay JonesNormally, this would be a good sign, especially after how badly Jones struggled during his rookie year. However, the Bills’ leading receiver on Sunday hauled in 3 passes for 26 yards, a stat line not worthy of flex consideration. He totaled 4.1 points on the day. If Jones can continue to develop a rapport with whomever the team decides to start at quarterback, he might be worth a look in deeper leagues; however, adding him should not be a priority.RB Marcus MurphyIf your league awards points to individual return men, then you should look into adding Murphy immediately. While he only totaled 3.1 points in half-PPR leagues, totaling 31 yards on 6 carries, his usage suggests that Murphy is the better handcuff to own for McCoy. In the return game, Murphy returned 1 punt for 9 yards and 5 kicks for 165 yards. The Bills’ defense and special teams doesn’t appear to be a group worth owning, but if individual return men earn you points Infant Thomas Sweeney Jersey , Murphy could be a smart addition this week. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Coming off their best offensive performance of the season — and an extra week of rest — the Buffalo Bills have their starting quarterback back.Josh Allen will make his return against the Jacksonville Jaguars, coach Sean McDermott said on Monday.Allen was a full participant on the practice field as the Bills returned from the Week 11 bye with a shortened 45-minute session.“I’m excited,” Allen said. “I’m thankful for the opportunity.”Allen missed four games after suffering an elbow injury in Buffalo’s Week 6 loss to the Houston Texans. The first-round pick returned to the practice field prior to the team’s bye week, but did not play in Week 10 against the New York Jets. The Bills have maintained that Allen, chosen seventh overall last spring, would return to the lineup when healthy — but that decision was not necessarily an easy one for the Bills.Matt Barkley started for Buffalo against the Jets and provided the team with its best performance under center this season, throwing for 232 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 41-10 win.“You look at everything,” McDermott said. “That’s part of my job, my responsibility is to do that. (General manager) Brandon (Beane) and I spoke about it. We certainly were impressed with the way Matt handled things, but at the end of the day Josh is our starter and we’re excited to have him back.”Allen wore a black sleeve on his right arm at practice on Monday, which he said he could wear in games moving forward. He remained in Buffalo to rehabilitate his injury during the team’s bye and felt the extra time off was significant in his recovery.“The difference that I feel in the elbow right now compared to two weeks ago is a very big difference Thomas Sweeney Jersey Draft ,” Allen said. “I’m thankful that I was able to sit out for one more week. … I’m making throws where I don’t have to second-guess, putting the ball where it needs to be. And when I’m making the throws there’s no grabbing or pulling in there and it feels fluid.”Allen’s return is just the latest change for Buffalo’s last-ranked passing attack. The Bills have made several moves in recent weeks with an emphasis on adding speed and youth at wide receiver, which paid off against the Jets.Deonte Thompson was signed during the team’s bye week. Thompson came out of nowhere to earn a significant role on offense last season, making 27 receptions for 430 yards and a touchdown. He signed with Dallas this offseason as a free agent and was released by the Cowboys on Nov. 9.“Things weren’t working out over there,” Thompson said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to come back here and get on the field and make some plays. … Coming back here was a no-brainer for me.”Thompson’s signing comes after a breakout performance by undrafted rookie Robert Foster. With three catches for 105 yards against the Jets, Foster became the first Bills receiver to top 100 yards in more than a year — since Thompson’s 107 yards on Oct. 22, 2017.“Brandon and I talked a couple weeks ago and we thought we were lacking in the speed department on offense so that’s been an emphasis the last couple of weeks,” McDermott said. “You saw some of that up against the Jets. That just opens things up a little bit.”The early returns on Allen have been mixed so far in Buffalo. The QB has shown flashes with his strong arm and mobility, but he has been largely inconsistent as a passer. In six games, Allen has thrown for 832 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions.“I’ve been saying it — I think we’re close,” Allen said. “We went out and we executed very well against a good Jets defense. … That just speaks volumes to the guys that we have in this locker room.”

T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , Kyler Murray is as little as they get. But that may not stop Murray from becoming the NFL’s next big thing. Whether he does lands at storyline No. 15 as the 2019 season appraoches. From the moment he chose football over baseball, Murray captured the imagination of scouts, coaches, players, and fans. In this golden age of quarterbacking, Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield became the darlings of the league in 2018, a year after Deshaun Watson was all the rage, until he suffered a torn ACL.Despite his (lack of) size, Murray brings an explosiveness that the league hasn’t seen since Mike Vick https://www.brownsfanshop.com , but possibly with a better set of passing skills. While Murray may not be the next Mahomes, Murray doesn’t need to be a 50-touchdown MVP to justify Arizona’s faith in him.Ulimately, it was an easy analysis. The Cardinals have struggled with young quarterbacks in recent years (decades), getting their best performances from veterans like Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer. Murray could be their first born-and-raised franchise quarterback since moving to the desert 31 years ago.Sure, there’s a chance he’ll be a bust. That he won’t be able to stay healthy once he’s hit hard by NFL-caliber defensive players. That his speed and other skills won’t translate to the pro game. The risk is worth it. And it’s far better to roll the dice on Murray and get it wrong than to pass on him and have him become a star player for someone else.If he becomes a star for the Cardinals, the NFC West becomes very interesting, perhaps before long the best division in the league. Wide receiver Odell Beckham touched on a wide variety of topics in a recent interview with , but his meeting with reporters at his youth football camp on Tuesday was focused on what 2019 will hold for the Browns.Beckham’s arrival after last year’s 7-8-1 record has spurred a lot of hope in Cleveland about what the team can do come the fall. There are also those that think the Browns may not be ready to take that next step in Freddie Kitchens’s first year as a head coach, but people are paying close attention either way.Beckham downplayed buying into expectations Browns Customized Color Rush Jerseys , but said he thinks the team is on the rise and that it’s exciting to be part of a group drawing so much attention.“Expectations are just expectations, but I’m excited to be part of the excitement,” Beckham said, via WKYC. “I’ve watched from afar the struggles, where they didn’t win a game the one year, won one game and went to 7-9. It’s just been on the come-up. It’s just that time and I just want to be able to give absolutely everything I have and see where we land with that.”Beckham acknowledged that the goal of every team is to win the Super Bowl, but said that he wants the Browns to “take it day by day, week by week” once they start making their way through his first season with his new team.

Dexter Williams Jersey , but they may have had an even bigger lead to protect down the stretch if not for some confusion near the end of the first half.An Aaron Rodgers pass to Geronimo Allison on third down was ruled short of the sticks, but Rodgers thought that the officials spotted the ball for a first down. He rushed to the line to run a play ahead of a possible booth review of the spot and Jamaal Williams lost two yards on a run that turned the ball over on downs.Head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game that he was planning to kick a field goal and that he needs “to do a better job of communicating” with Rodgers in those situations. Rodgers took the blame for himself, however.“It was a bad play by me,” Rodgers said Rashan Gary Jersey , via the . “I don’t make plays like that. I’ve always prided myself on having really good clock awareness and game awareness. I just assumed first down based on the spot. And I should have just looked and made sure it was first and not a fourth, because obviously fourth-and-1 we don’t want to run that play. . . . Much to my surprise, I came out of the fake there and realized it was fourth down. That’ll earn me an extra finger of Scotch tonight probably.”The Vikings were able to kick a field goal before the end of the first half, but the Packers still led 21-10 at the break and went on to get the win. That makes it easier to joke about a momentary brain lock in the heat of the moment. “If you can’t beat them https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Antonio-Morrison-Jersey , join them.”That seems to be the approach the Green Bay Packers took when selecting Matt LaFleur to be the team’s next head coach.A year ago Green Bay’s arch rival Chicago Bears hired Matt Nagy off of Andy Reid’s staff in Kansas City despite limited experience in calling plays and paired him with respected defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. The results? A 12-4 record and a curb stomping of the NFC North. The Packers are obviously hoping for similar success with LaFleur in 2019. He’ll have more talent on offense than Nagy did and by retaining defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, whose defense did show promise this season before a tsunami of injuries finally took its toll, LaFleur can focus on fixing the offense and getting quarterback Aaron Rodgers back to elite level.Pettine clearly has the respect of his players and can command the defensive meeting room. If there were any doubt about that, team president Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst would not have been as keen on keeping him around. There is of course risk with this. Mimicking the path of a first year head coach whose team flamed out in the wild card round isn’t idea Quinten Rollins Jersey , but given the worst-to-first turnaround the Bears experienced clearly the Packers felt good about their chances.
